WORKING in fast food can have its challenges at times, and sometimes customers don’t help during a shift.
A McDonald’s worker has revealed her top pet peeves about the job when it comes to serving the public.

TikTok user Abbie Selby, who posts under @abbieselbby, said: “I’ve been seeing a lot of people do their pet peeves at work so I thought I’d join the trend.
“Let’s start with number one – shouting hello at the [drive-thru] speaker before I take your order.
“Why is it that people pull up and go ‘hello, hello, hello’. I’m going to answer straight away.
“Saying hello after I’ve said ‘I’ll be with you in a moment’ won’t make me go any faster.”

Her second pet peeve was people being indecisive.
Abbie continued: “I normally let this one slide a little bit if it’s quiet, but when it’s busy, not knowing what you want to order at the drive-thru.
“The most common phrase I hear is ‘can I get errrrrr.’
“It doesn’t normally bother me, but when my boss is shouting at me to go quicker, I can’t help it when people don’t know what they want.”

Abbie said she also gets frustrated when people don’t understand they can’t add extras.
She explained: “When people go ‘can I get a Big Mac with extra Big Mac sauce or whatever.’
“Sometimes on our tills it allows us to add extra things but some burgers don’t allow us to add extra things.”
The McDonald’s worker acknowledged that “some stores do it differently” to hers.
When Abbie isn’t able to add extras, she said people get “so angry”.
She added: “It’s just a little burger, it not a big deal.”
Her fourth annoyance is when people give £20 worth of cash in 5ps, and she said this usually happens when it is busy and she’s on her own.
Abbie joked: “It makes our lives so much easier when you pay by card, just give it a tap.”
Lastly, she said her fifth pet peeve is when people try to sit upstairs when the gate is closed and a staff member is cleaning it for the end of the shift.
After her video went up on TikTok, other Maccies workers have chimed in.
