Shaq said he will never shop at his local Aldi again[/caption]
The caption to his video read: “Aldi, fix up, this is unacceptable food ethics and it needs to be highlighted and brought to everyone’s attention.”
In the video Shak explained the chicken he bought was five days in date but to his dismay, when he boiled it (on the same day it was purchased) he realised that the meat inside was green.
“That is disgusting,” Shak said, before suggesting that the chicken had become diseased due to the conditions it was reared in.
Shak, is a chicken breeder himself and usually cooks his the chickens he has reared, explained how he is sometimes forced to buy from supermarkets.
He told others: “Do not buy chicken from Ashfields, the company that provides chicken for Aldi.
“That is the last time I will ever purchase anything from Aldi ever again. It made me feel sick.”
Aldi told Fabulous: “We apologise to this customers that, on this occasion, our products have not met our usual high standards.
“Our products comply with all food safety regulations and, in the rare event that a customer is not satisfied, we would encourage them to return it to store for a full refund.”
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts on Shak’s chicken, with many sharing similar stories about Aldi meat.
One user suggested: “Looks like it’s probably been re-dated. I worked in a factory years ago and they did this all the time! Wrong really.”
Replying to the comment, Shak said: “I 100 per cent believe you and will never purchase a supermarket chicken again. Thank you for sharing.”
Another user claimed: “A couple of weeks ago I bought a pizza from their bakery department and ended up with really bad food poisoning. I thought I was going to die.”
A third user opined: “I’ve bought chicken from Aldi and it didn’t smell right . It went straight in the bin.”
But not everyone has had bad experiences with a minority of Aldi products, in fact, Aldi is a very popular supermarket and was voted the nation’s favourite supermarket in a 2023 YouGov poll.
The supermarket was also recently named by Which? as the UK’s cheapest supermarket for the 16th consecutive month.
It comes after many households Christmas dinners were ruined when supermarkets up and down the country delivered “rotten” turkeys.
Birds allegedly bought from Asda, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Aldi were among those spoiled, with turkeys found “slimy” and “rancid” even before families enjoy their festive dinners.
According to Aldi, all supermarkets experience similar issues like this during the festive season.
The supermarket also reminded customers to follow product instructions for all goods to ensure they remained appetising. The instructions included the optimum storage of all supermarket products, including turkeys.
But one unhappy Aldi customer called Ian Frame penned on Twitter: “@AldiUK Christmas ruined, thanks for the rotten turkey.
“Research tells me that a fresh raw turkey only lasts two days so why are you selling them on the 19th with a best before date on the 28th? Looks like we are having chicken on Christmas day.”
