A man in his seventies was eaten alive by 40 of his own crocodiles after being dragged into their enclosure, it has been reported.
The remains of Luan Nam’s body were recovered by his family after the ordeal in Siem Reap, a resort town in northwest Cambodia.
The 72-year-old was said to have screamed for help but his colleagues were not able to rescue him from the jaws of the crocodiles which were being bred for their skin and meat.
Mr Luan had been trying to move a crocodile from an egg-laying cage when an animal’s jaw locked onto the pole he was using – pulling him into an enclosure, ViralPress wrote on Friday.
The gruesome attack reportedly saw the animals bite off and swallow Mr Luan’s arms and one of his legs. Deep bite marks were left across his body. His remains were removed from the farm and taken back to his family’s home.
An ominous picture from after the incident showed a crocodile sitting with one flip-flop poking out from its mouth.
Siem Reap police chief Mev Savry told reporters: ‘While he was chasing a crocodile out of an egg-laying cage, the crocodile attacked the stick, causing him to fall into the enclosure.
‘Then other crocodiles pounced, attacking him until he was dead.’
He added that a two-year-old girl died in the same Cambodian town in 2019 when she entered a crocodile farm.
