SOCIAL media users have only just realised the right way to load their dishwasher – and it makes all the difference.
Loading the dishwasher is one of those foolproof tasks we believe to have mastered by now, right?

According to one foodie, there’s a reason your dishes always come out dirty[/caption]

The man demonstrated the ‘correct’ way of loading your dishwasher[/caption]
Well, according to food fans online, who’ve shared the ”correct” way of doing it, it’s easy to go wrong.
One of them, only known as The Gooch on TikTok, insisted that his method will make for a sparkly load every single time.
”Instead of loading dishes in the same direction, face them inwards towards the centre.”
He explained that this trick will let the dirty dishes get hit the by the sprayer evenly.
”You’re welcome,” The Gooch chuckled in the video posted on social media.
The clip soon racked up thousands of likes and dozens of comments from fellow internet fans.
But despite the recommendations, the response online was mixed – whilst some agreed with The Gooch, others were convinced he was doing it incorrectly.
One insisted: ”No, you have been loading the dishwasher wrong. We have been doing this forever.”
Someone else reckoned: ”It really depends on the dishwasher. Mine has like 30 sprayers, all over.”
Another thought: ”Ive always done this its common sense [sic].”

”I have been doing this correctly for decades. At least I got something right in life,” a fourth joked.
Once you’re done using this handy appliance, it’s time to give your dishwasher a thorough clean – but how to do it properly?
According to pros, it’s actually quite easy – here’s what you need to do.
1. Clean the filter
Without a clean filter, your dishwasher cannot do its job properly.
You should take the filter out and rinse it under hot running water.
Using a soft toothbrush, clean the mesh and the plastic frame before replacing it back into the dishwasher and locking it into place.
Experts at iconic appliance maker Smeg said: “Cleaning the filter in your dishwasher’s base regularly is crucial.
“This collects food particles and residues and can not only produce an odour if not cleaned, but will also reduce the dishwasher’s performance.”
2. Deep clean the dishwasher with a hot wash
Put your empty dishwasher on for a hot cycle to break buildup and stop smells.
You can do this with or without a dishwasher cleaning agent added into the mix.
Don’t use harsh bleaches or vinegar in this process as you can damage the seals and key components of the machine.
3. Wipe away any door grime
If you see grime building up around the door then it is simple to wipe away any dirt.
Wipe dirt or splashes that appear on the door with a damp cloth or sponge.
You can clean the door seal with a soft toothbrush to get rid of any gunk.
Finish off by wiping this again along with the handle.
4. Top up dishwasher salt and rinse aid
This is an important step but can often be a frustrating part of dishwasher maintenance.
Use a funnel to fill up the salt, which helps prevent limescale buildup in the pipes.
This is really crucial if you want to keep your dishwasher working well for a long time.
Instagram cleaning sensation Mrs D said: “Always keep your dishwasher salt reservoir topped up.
“If you live in a hard water area you’ll need to top the salt up more than living in a soft water area.
“Your dishwasher and dishes will thank you for it.”
5. Remove spray arms
If the spray arms are blocked, your dishes will not be cleaned effectively.
Use a pin to poke through any blockages after removing the arms.
Rinse them under the tap and make sure they are clear from all dirt before reattaching them.
6. Polish the outside
This can be done as and when it is needed, grubby handprints can quickly make your dishwasher look dirty.
This is worse with stainless steel appliances, which can show up all the little bits of dirt and grime.
