NICOLA Sturgeon has banned travel for Scots to three English local councils amid a rise in cases due to the Indian variant.
The First Minister urged people not to visit loved ones or pals in Bedford, Bolton and Blackburn with Darwen amid fears over the new strain.

It was warned that the new mutation of the virus could be even more transmissible than the winter Kent variant – which sparked a huge spike in infections at the start of the year.
Ms Sturgeon confirmed there would be no travel curbs on nearby surrounding areas, but urged Scots to be careful when travelling south of the border.
The SNP leader also revealed that Glasgow will remain under Level 2 lockdown curbs for at least another week.

East Renfrewshire locals dodged being moved back to Level 3 again – despite having a higher case rate per person than Glasgow.
Moray has been moved down to Level 2, after cases in the area fell.
On the travel ban, Ms Sturgeon said: “At the moment, anyone in a Level One or Level Two area can travel to any other Level Two area within Scotland, and to any other part of the UK.
“However, we know that there are particularly serious outbreaks of the April 02 variant in three specific English local authority areas: Bedford, Bolton and Blackburn & Darwin.

“For that reason, from Monday onwards, we are imposing travel restrictions on travel between Scotland and those three local authority areas in England.
“If you were planning to visit friends or relatives or stay in those areas you must delay your visit.
“Remember that the situation with this new variant changes quickly.”
