PARENTS have been left fuming after trying a chocolate advent calendar from Poundland they say tastes ‘absolutely rotten’.

One mother, from the UK, explained her children were given the £1 milk chocolate advent calendar by a family member for the festive season.

Facebook/Bargain Lovers

Mums fumed at the taste of the chocolate, which they thought was ‘for dogs’ as a result of the taste[/caption]

She claimed that what she expected to be delicious sweet treats behind each door were actually ‘so grim’ that she assumed the calendar was for dogs.

Clearly extremely disgusted, Talisa Jade Moss took to social media to alert others, leaving many open-mouthed.

Posting on BARGAIN LOVERS Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range, a public Facebook group with 579,900 members, Talisa shared a snap of the Merry Christmas calendar, which is just £1 from the much-loved high-street chain.

Alongside the post, Talisa penned: “Anyone with one of these (Poundland)… I would take it back or throw it…

“I didn’t buy them, they were given to my children by a family member.

“They are marketed as ‘chocolate flavour treats’ and are absolutely rotten.

“I even checked the back as I assumed it must be for dogs as it was so grim, but it’s definitely for human consumption…”

She warned chocolate lovers: “AVOID UNLESS YOU HAVE NO TASTEBUDS!!”

After Googling the advent calendar, which contains 24 ‘chocolate flavour treats’, she later added: “Definitely NOT marketed for dogs/pets.”

The ‘chocolate’ treats contain sugar, hydrogenated palm oil, cocoa power, demineralised whey powder, skimmed milk powder, emulsifier, flavourings and salt.

Talisa also claimed: “Have checked Poundland’s website and they are made by Turner Confectionary in Bradford.”

Talisa’s post has clearly left many open-mouthed as it has quickly racked up over 100 likes and 175 comments.

Mums are fuming at Poundland’s ‘rotten’ advent calendar saying they thought it was ‘for dogs’ after tasting the treats

Holly Laing, 22, from Northampton, has revealed she used to work in Poundland and often heard customers say the same annoying thing.

Holly claimed she worked for Poundland in 2015 for three months as a Christmas temp.

She said that customers would get annoyed when products cost more than £1 individually.

In a comical video, Holly acted out a scenario that often occurred on her shift at the bargain store, where customers were always baffled and irritated that items could cost over £1.

Holly uploaded her video with the caption “I heard this a lot” as she said: “POV: Not everything’s £1 in Poundland”.

Holly explained that customers would often say to her: “But this is the pound shop, is it not?”

“That’s very misleading, I’ll only pay for that if it’s a pound.”

“Disgusting, what a rip off.”

Mums fume

Many other parents were equally as horrified by the chocolate and flocked to the comments to share their thoughts.

One woman penned: “Opened the first door and nothing there, the “chocolate” has all fallen to the bottom, best place for it, it’s horrible.”

My little girl picked this one, she spat it straight out

A second chimed in: “Yep disgusting.”

Someone else shared: “I did the same when my son opened his, looked on the back thinking it was a dog one. But yes I agree they are horrible.

“Also all the chocolate fell to the bottom and there’s no picture behind the window!! I’m glad I brought another one for my son!”

Whilst one mother claimed: “My little girl picked this one, she spat it straight out. I thought it was for dogs when I tried it.”

‘Flavour’ says it all

However, at the same time, many explained that the flavour of the calendar ‘says it all’ and weren’t surprised to hear customer complaints.

One person said: “Chocolate ‘flavour’ says it all.”

Another added: “It’s Poundland, what did you expect?”

A third commented: “You get what you pay for.”
