Passengers are furious after a major airline announced they would strip back their three course mid-flight meal.
British Airways announced their three-course meals will be cut back to a smaller selection of main courses and desserts on business class flights after 9pm.
One passenger shared a photo of the stripped back menu, which features mains such as salads and a cheese selection and dessert options of cookies, fruit salad and panna cotta.
The traveler, flying from London Heathrow to São Paulo, Brazil, said: ‘Is it time to bring back #toflytostarve ?’
Business class tickets on the route from London to São Paulo range between £4,000 and £7,000 for a one way ticket overnight flight.
One passenger fumed: ‘I would love to see the amount saved per passenger from these cost cutting measures. It surely cannot be worth the damage?’
Others pointed out that not everyone may want to sleep on the overnight flight, observing that if they want to drink, they will – but there will now be ‘very little’ food to accompany the tipple.
BA said the menu change had been introduced in a bid to help customers who wanted to sleep on overnight flights.
In a statement, BA told Metro: ‘We’re incredibly proud of our premium dining experience, which includes a wide range of meal options to suit the preferences of our customers depending on the time of day they’re travelling.’
Earlier this year, holidaymakers traveling on British Airways new short-haul planes were given a new storage feature which delighted them.
Those going on the new short-haul planes are now able to store their bags on their sides, rather than face down in the extra-large overhead bins.
The new A320neo and A321neo aircrafts were redesigned to ‘reflect a British modern yet classic interior, combining a progressive approach with traditional elements that draw inspiration from the flag carrier’s rich heritage.’
Talking of overhead dramas, one cabin crew member recently revealed the single worst thing a passenger can do on an airplane – and it involves the overhead bin.
‘Putting any type of bottle that has liquid in it in the overhead bin,’ an American flight attendant who goes by Cher declared on TikTok, in a video which has been viewed more than 73,000 times.
