Everything you need to know about the new Multiply programme

Everything you need to know about the new Multiply programme

Reach new heights with Multiply.

The government’s new £560 million programme to help transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of adults across the UK is coming in Spring 2022 and will be delivered through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Numeracy is the ability to understand and use maths in daily life, home, and work.  Whether that be improving household finances, helping children with homework, making more sense of the stats and facts in the media, or improving numeracy skills specific to your line of work.

People who improve their numeracy skills are more likely to be in employment, have higher wages, and better wellbeing, and will be more able to progress to higher levels of free training to secure a skilled job in our economy.

Businesses who develop their employees’ numeracy skills can boost productivity, increase profits, and improve employee retention.

That’s why we’ve launched the Multiply programme – just one of the ways the government is helping everyone gain skills for life.

What is it?

All local areas in the United Kingdom will receive funding to deliver bespoke adult numeracy programmes in their area from April next year.

  • Adults who don’t already have a GCSE grade C/4 or higher in Maths will be able to access free courses that fit around their lives – whether that be in person or online, at work or in the evening, part time or intensive – with additional support to meet their needs.
  • Employers who could benefit from boosting their workforce’s skills will be able to work with their Local Authority and training providers to deliver Maths GCSEs or work-ready Functional Skills Qualifications and design and deliver bespoke programmes for their workforce – at no cost to them.

A new digital platform, to be launched next year, will give you access to numeracy training on demand, at your own pace, to build your confidence and boost your skills.

If you’re over 19 and working towards a maths GCSE or Functional Skills, or you just want brush up on the skills to help you get on in life and work, our platform will provide you with materials tailored to your level and your goals.

Through the platform, you’ll be able to sign up for free online tutorials and courses, delivered when best suits you, to support you on your numeracy journey.

Who’s it for?

All adults and businesses across the UK can benefit from Multiply.

Not sure Multiply is for you? You can check where your everyday skills are at, and where you could improve, through this quick and confidential quiz.

If you’re an employer, Multiply can help you assess the skill level of your workforce.

More details on Multiply will be published in Spring 2022.
