Sega announces new nostalgic title and we were one of the first people to play it

SEGA is best known for games like Sonic the Hedgehog, or the excellent Atlus games like the Persona series.

However, there is a third major series under the publisher’s belt, with a nostalgic twist on classic strategy simulations.

You’ll also have to explore the world to find new artifacts[/caption]

Two Point recently revived the management sim genre from the ‘90s and early ‘00s that included games like Theme Park World or Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Starting with Two Point Hospital in 2018, and Two Point Campus in 2022, the next game in the series will let you manage a museum.

Two Point Museum won’t be exactly like the other games in the series, as it takes a step back from money management.

In a traditional management simulator, the amount you can build and expand your company or attraction by is linked to how much money you make.

However, what struck us most after spending a few hours with Two Point Museum is that you need to find your own exhibits.

Ancient artifacts can’t just be bought, you need to take part in expeditions to find them and bring them back to showcase.

Money is still involved, as you’ll need it to send staff on those trips, but it adds an extra layer to the management.

We spoke to design director Ben Huskins, who gave us the low-down on what inspired this big change in the series.

He said: “We really like the idea of building up an awesome thing, but not being able to just buy everything.

“In previous games, money is the limiting factor – so in [Two Point Hospital] you can just chuck down as many treatment rooms as you can afford – we really like this idea of not being able to do that.

“You have to build up these collections by going on expeditions, so you feel quite attached to your collection and it’s a good feeling when you find rare things.”

What struck us most was just how different everyone’s museums looked despite the fact that we were all given the same tools to play with.

No release date was given with the announcement, so the game is likely to be some way off from being released.

From what we played in the preview though, it seems very different from the previous two games in the series rather than being the same game with a new business venture.
