Rasmus Hojlund has been described as ‘a kind of Van Nistelrooy type of finisher’ by former Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas, in what is sure to be another boost to the Manchester United forward’s growing confidence.
The 21-year-old took some time to get going after joining the Red Devils from Atalanta over the summer, but he has now hit form in spectacular style.
The Denmark international has scored in his last six Premier League outings and scored eight in his last eight across all competitions.
Erik ten Hag appears to have landed on his best front three with Hojlund flanked by Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford and it is paying dividends.
Fabregas has certainly been impressed and has compared the Dane to a man who scored 150 goals for Manchester United in just 219 appearances.
‘He attacks the box really well, he’s very smart,’ Fabregas told the BBC’s Planet Premier League.
‘He’s a kind of Van Nistelrooy type of finisher when he gets his confidence. I believe he can be a really top striker for United in the future.
‘When you have this plus a very good player one-on-one (Garnacho) who is making crosses all the time, you will always get the best out of him.’
Hojlund, Garnacho,19, and Kobbie Mainoo, 18, have all been impressing for Manchester United of late and Fabregas is pleased to see the trio of youngsters coming to the fore.
‘It definitely is great to see [the young players performing well] because you can see it has given them the licence, you know to show themselves what they can do,’ he said.
‘They play with a lot of purpose. And it’s great to see because you don’t see that nowadays at big clubs.’
