Speculation about DLC for Spider-Man 2 suggests it will feature Daredevil, as Insomniac patch in a plaque for the character’s day job.
When the first Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4 was released it eventually got three slices of DLC, focusing on occasional love interest Black Cat, who also makes a cameo in Spider-Man 2. It therefore stands to reason that Spider-Man 2 will also be getting DLC, whether it’s just one expansion or many.
For days now there’s been speculation that it will revolve around blind superhero Daredevil and The Hand clan of evil ninjas. This was based on what seems to be a secret room hidden in the game and some suspiciously evasive comments from developer Insomniac, when asked about it.
It was also noted that a plaque signifying the offices of Nelson & Murdock (the latter being the lawyer alter ego of Daredevil) had been blanked out in Spider-Man 2, even though it wasn’t in the first game. Whether that was meant to imply they’d moved wasn’t clear but now a new patch has mysteriously filled the names back in.
The secret room is in the back of book shop which, unlike most buildings in the game, you can for some reason enter. You can’t get into the room itself but you can make out that it seems to contain weird symbols and skulls on the wall, as well as various weapons and shields.
Fans think this points to The Hand, an evil clan of ninjas that are a Daredevil mainstay and what the Foot clan from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is based on.
So a TON of people have sent me a clip of this super weird Easter Egg and I just had to check it out myself.

A painting on the wall also looks uncannily similar to the distinctive window from Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, although given The Hand are also into the occult it’s unclear whether that implies he’ll also be in the DLC.
However, Strange is referenced at least twice by name in Spider-Man 2, with Wong also getting a name check. Plus, Sanctum Sanctorum is clearly visible on Bleecker Street, just as it was in the first game.
Whether that’s the limit of Doctor Strange’s involvement in Spider-Man 2 is unclear but the plaque does definitely seem to be hinting at Daredevil.
IGN recently asked senior creative director Bryan Intihar about why it was blank and he replied cryptically: ‘That’s a good question.’ Before adding: ‘Stay tuned. Good find though.’
Now that the names have been re-added to the game it seems almost certain that Daredevil, or at least Matt Murdock, will feature in the DLC.
The DLC for the original Spider-Man started to appear less than two months after the main game but there doesn’t seem to be any suggestion that anything will be out for Spider-Man 2 that quick.
Shadow drops are more popular now then they were back in 2018, so you never know, but the change to the plaque may at least imply an announcement is imminent.
