In the elite world of professional football, where players often receive lucrative endorsements from major brands, one young British entrepreneur, known as ‘Boots Plug’, is making a significant impact. His collection of classic and rare football boots has become the top choice for many players, even over multi-million-pound deals.
From Schoolboy Collector to Boot Mogul
Boots Plug’s story began in Year 7, driven by a love for football and the challenge of affording high-end boots. “I saved up my lunch money, and after two months, I got my first proper Nike pair,” he recalls. This passion for collecting soon evolved into a thriving business focused on sourcing and selling rare and classic boots.
Unique Boots for Pros
Over the years, Boots Plug has sold over 10,000 pairs and worked with around 1,000 professional players. His offerings, which now include custom designs, allow players to express themselves uniquely on the pitch. “Players love having a 1/1 design on their boots. It helps them tell a message,” he explains.
Word-of-Mouth Success
The personal touch and dedication Boots Plug brings to his work are key to his success. “99% of them reach out to us through word of mouth,” he says.
His first big break came when Michael Olise, then playing for Reading, contacted him for rare boots. Since then, his clientele has grown to include stars like Victor Osimhen, Reece James, and Ivan Toney.
Challenges and Triumphs
Despite long hours, Boots Plug’s business is booming. He spends up to 13 hours a day sourcing and customising boots, but he loves every minute. “I can’t find the same excitement in any other thing,” he admits. His most expensive sale was a pair for £3,000, though the average price is around £200.
Notable Clients and Future Growth
With a client list featuring names like Victor Osimhen and Steven Bergwijn, Boots Plug’s reputation is well-established. As he begins hiring more staff to meet growing demand, the future looks bright for this boot aficionado who combines passion and business to offer a unique service to the world’s top footballers.
