L’Oréal-UNESCO Award Winner to Head TAU’s new Directorate of Research, Innovations, and Product Development

Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Adekemi Titilayo Dahunsi as the pioneer Director of Research, Innovations, and Product Development. With an illustrious track record in academia and a passion for pushing the boundaries of knowledge, Dr. Adekemi Titilayo Dahunsi will lead the university’s efforts to drive transformative research, foster innovation, and elevate the institution’s impact on a global scale.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Dahunsi as the Director of Research, Innovations, and Product Development,” said TAU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo. “With a reputation for groundbreaking research and a proven ability to cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration, Dr. Dahunsi will play a crucial role in elevating our university’s status as a world-class research institution.”

As the Director of Research, Innovations, and Product Development, Dr. Dahunsi’s key responsibilities will include guiding the university’s research and innovation strategy, and aligning it with the institution’s broader mission, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. She will also facilitate cross-disciplinary research, encouraging faculty and students to collaborate on projects that address complex global challenges, oversee technology transfer and innovation, identify research funding and partnerships. She will also oversee the dissemination of research findings through publications, conferences, and public engagement activities.

“I am honored to join TAU and lead its dynamic Directorate of Research, Innovations, and Product Development,” said Dr. Dahunsi. “Together with our exceptional faculty, researchers, and students, we will push the boundaries of knowledge and contribute to meaningful advancements that positively impact society and the world.”

Dahunsi’s appointment represents a significant milestone in TAU’s journey towards becoming a global leader in research and innovation. The university is confident that her vision, expertise, and dedication will steer the Directorate to new heights and bring about transformative change. As an internationally renowned scholar and visionary leader, Dr. Dahunsi brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role. With a Ph.D. in Food Microbiology and Biotechnology from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria, she has demonstrated a remarkable ability to bridge the gap between academic research and practical applications, aligning perfectly with Thomas Adewumi University’s commitment to innovation and societal impact. She is a past recipient of the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Award and a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). Among her many other achievements, she was a Guest Scientist, at the Group of Microbiology of Anaerobic Systems (MicAS), Department of Environmental Microbiology, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, Germany.
