Mino Raiola has suggested that Manchester United are not prime candidates in the race to sign Erling Haaland next summer.
The Norway international is expected to be one of the world’s most in-demand players at the end of the season following his impressive spell at Borussia Dortmund.
The 21-year-old has scored 74 goals in 72 appearances for Dortmund and has attracted interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.
United attempted to sign Haaland during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign but the striker opted to join Dortmund instead.
And Raiola has hinted that United are likely to lose out once again due to City’s recent history in the Premier League title race.
‘He can and will take the next step,’ Raiola told Sport1.
‘Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City – these are the big clubs he can go to. City has won the league title five times in recent years, significantly more than United.
‘When we moved to Dortmund, we all knew that this step would come.’
Asked when Haaland will leave Dortmund, Raiola replied: ‘Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after.
‘But there is a great chance that Erling will leave this summer. We will see.
‘He is someone who wants to develop, who is looking for new challenges.
‘And of course it is also a question of the alternative. You only switch when you have a better alternative.’
