MASKS could be gone in months as up to 30 countries are set to welcome Brits this summer.
Travel expert Paul Charles, from the PC Agency, expects 30 countries to be added to the Green list when No 10 reveals the list next month.
Countries that will possibly be green include Israel, Morocco, Barbados, Maldives, Seychelles, Grenada, St Lucia, Antigua and the British Overseas Territories of Bermuda, Turks & Caicos, Falkland Islands, St Helena and a clutch of others,” Mr Charles said.
Government scientists say it means mask-wearing will soon become optional, with life returning “much more towards normal”.
“Broadly speaking, vaccines look incredibly good and should do a lot of the heavy lifting for this,” said the source.
“The question really is around what happens next autumn and winter. There’s such a good vaccine response and such a good vaccine uptake, that generally, the relaxations will be able to take place, and things will return much more towards normal.
“I also think it’s likely that over next autumn and winter there will be an increase in cases as we see with the flu virus and so on in winter, and it may be necessary in certain situations, to keep masks in place.”
